Renesas announces the launch of its new PMIC solution which provides high integrability with RZ/G2L And V2L MPUs. 
Power management ICs have now become a common power management solution for various portable devices as well as large scale industrial equipment. New breeds of PMICs are designed to achieve better efficiency with their complementary MCUs or other control units. Renesas Electronics Corporation has announced the launch of RAA215300 PMIC (Power Management IC) optimized to complement Renesas’ RZ/V2L and RZ/G2L microprocessors (MPUs) designed for AI-enabled applications.
The new PMIC features 9 channels, a built-in charger and a real-time clock. The integrating capability of this PMIC with complementary MCUs reduces complexity and speeds time-to-market.
The RAA215300 PMIC includes six buck regulators, three LDOs and a coin cell/supercap charger. It is said to support DDR4, DDR4L, DDR3 and DDR3L memory with dedicated VREF, VTT and VPP rails. It moreover enables four-layer printed-circuit boards, which reduce costs. 
With the high-level of suitability with MCUs, the PMIC is said to increase product reliability. The PMIC pairs with RZ/G2L, RZ/V2L and several other microprocessor architectures for a Scalable SMARC (Smart Mobility ARChitecture) SoM System-on-Module with AI design. 
The PMIC improves the system efficiency by using a VTT buck regulator instead of LDOs. Spread spectrum technique is used to reduce EMI. It further features, watchdog timer for secure system power up before any software is running, ultrasonic mode to eliminate audio noise coupling and a built-in EEPROM.
